EYEBROW TINTING
Eyebrow tinting simply put, is the application of eyebrow tint to your brows. Eyebrow tint is a specially formulated semi-permanent hair dye used specifically on the eyebrows. DIY eyebrow tinting kits are available in most pharmacies and supermarkets and you can also choose to get your brows tinted in a beauty salon.
Below are some of the reasons why you should give eyebrow tinting a try:
1. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO CHANGE YOUR HAIR COLOR
For dark skinned people who change their hair color to a lighter one, dark eyebrows are going to look unfit as they won’t go in tune with your hair. In situations like this, you can tint your eyebrows one or two shades lighter, this is an easy and effective way to create that natural look that’s amiss. Same thing goes for blondes and redheads who want to dye their hair to a darker color, tinting your eyebrows to match your hair is a good option. But keep it in mind that your eyebrows doesn’t necessarily have to match your hair color, tinting your eyebrows one or two shades lighter or darker than your hair is the general recommendation.
2. IF YOU HAVE NOTICED GREY HAIR IN YOUR EYEBROWS
Having grey hair is a natural part of getting older. For some people nature taking its course is a good idea but since we all are not the same, others would like to conceal it. Although plucking the grey hair out from the scalp is fine, plucking hairs from the scanty eyebrow area will produce bald patches that won’t be good to look at, and it will also leave you brow misshapen. So getting an eyebrow tint to match the grey with the surrounding hairs is better than plucking out your hairs.
3. IF YOU WANT THICKER EYEBROWS
Your eyebrows can look thin and scraggly with pale, translucent hairs. Tinting your brows will give you a neater and shapely eyebrow look you never knew you had. Even though the thickness and denseness of your eyebrow hair can obviously not be changed in the tinting session alone, the darker color will make them appear naturally thicker.
4. IF YOU WANT TO ADD DEFINITION TO YOUR FACE
Having a nice pair of shapely brows can give your face an amazing structure. Neat, defined eyebrows will boost your facial symmetry, create an attractive high look contrast and it will also frame your eyes, making them look gorgeous.
WHAT HAPPENS IN AN EYEBROW TINTING SESSION?
Getting your eyebrows tinted by a professional is better than doing it yourself. It minimizes the risk of anything going wrong because there are certain safety measures a professional will have to take before applying tint on your eyebrows.
The safety measures include:
* Carrying out a patch test twenty four hours before the treatment is applied
* The use of a vegetable-based stain to minimize the risk of irritation
* Using a blocking solution or Vaseline to keep the tint off the skin, and
* Using a disposable applicator to prevent the spread of infections between clients.
After you have gone through the patch test and consultation, your beauty professional will then apply Vaseline to the area around your eyebrows so as to prevent the dye from staining your skin. Now, using a disposable applicator, he/she will comb the tint from the inside corners of the eyebrows to the outside. The tint will then need about five to ten minutes to develop, after which a cotton wipe will be used to remove it.
The tint might stain the skin between the brows, making them appear to be darker than they really are, on the first day. There’s no need for you to panic if your brows look strange at first, the difference might make you feel odd at first but after some time, you’ll get used to it.
Depending on the beauty professional administering the treatment, eyebrow tinting shouldn’t take more than twenty or twenty five minutes.
